These are all handmade, high quality cotton face masks, designed to be comfortable and durable. Pattern may vary.
Each mask has small elastic hoops at each end to go over the ears, and the inside has a small pocket that you can place a N-95 compatible or other filter in.
All patterns vary a little but are constructed from the same template and with similar materials.
Disclaimer – This facemask is not meant to replace the surgical face mask. It is a contingency plan for those who have no available surgical mask in the market. Proper use of a surgical mask is still the best way to prevent virus infection.
While homemade masks aren’t as effective as medical-grade masks (like N95 respirators, which filter out at least 95% of airborne particles) researchers studying respiratory illnesses (including SARS, another form of Coronavirus) have found that a simple mask can help lower the risk of infection.
Your 100% cotton mask has been washed once on high heat using unscented laundry detergent and unscented fabric softener, dried with high heat, and handled with clean hands. Please wash again before use and wash often while using. The elastic is replaceable if you have basic sewing skills. This mask features a pocket for a filter. You can use cut to size Swiffer unscented dust wipes, vacuum bags, or furnace filters to give you some ideas. There is also a channel sewn into the top edge of the mask where you can insert a wire or included paperclip to help form a seal – be sure to remove before washing. You can also use pipe cleaners or floral wire for this purpose as well.
